Ángela’s testimony not only accuses the military, but also those Montoneros leaders who exposed Urondo and his family by demoting and transferring them to the dangerous Mendoza. The aim is to trace the evidential expressions Urondo Raboy employs in order to account for the different voices interwoven in her own testimonial voice about the “capture foretold”.

Abstract

On July 17 1976, at Guaymallén, in the Argentinian province of Mendoza, security forces killed Francisco (Paco) Urondo and kidnapped his partner Alicia Cora Raboy – still desaparecida – and their 11 months old daughter Ángela. After a few days in the major clandestine detention center of Mendoza Ángela was returned to her family. She was legally adopted by cousins of her mother, who have hidden the true story of her parents until she was 18. Ángela Urondo Raboy began to represent the reconstruction of her identity in many ways and in 2012 she published "¿Quién te creés que sos?". In this contribution I analyse the different representations of the capture of her family from the documents she quotes at the beginning of the novel reaching up to her own memories emerging thanks to her tough memory work.
