Corrige.it – Note per lo sviluppo delle risorse linguistico-terminologiche per il dominio “Gestione dell’emergenza COVID-19”

This paper describes a study aimed at developing an institutional termbase for the specific institutional thematic domain “COVID-19 emergency management” within the Corrige.it software. The termbase may perform textual quality control on institutional documents. Corrige.it is a system for spelling analysis and readability evaluation. It identifies various types of errors. Corrige.it has statistical-textual analysis tools and uses a knowledge base of millions of terms, updated daily by a dedicated editorial staff. It is already used by public administrations for spelling and terminology checking. For this study, we developed a corpus of written texts by the Italian government following a classification model for institutional texts. The corpus consists of 278 institutional texts published in the Official Gazette, issued by the Government and other state administrations to manage the COVID-19 emergency. The institutional terms have been automatically extracted by Corrige.it and were also identified by students of the course in Public Communication and Institutional Languages of the University of Salerno. In this way, a termbase was created for this specific institutional domain.
