Il riuso della rovina. Approcci metodologici ed operativi per interventi con potenziale impatto sul costruito storico The reuse of the ruin. Methodological and operational approaches for interventions with potential impact on historical buildings

Buildings and sites in ruins still retain tangible and intangible values of past cultural, artistic and social seasons and become works or to be protected in their state of ruin, as a warning and teaching, or to be used and re-inserted in modern functional circuits, whenever possible. From a theoretical and operational point of view, the reuse of buildings in a state of ruin manifests greater degrees of difficulty than the reuse of ‘complete’ historic buildings. It is necessary to outline a sci-entifically correct approach to the project for the reuse of artifacts and sites in ruins and to direct the designer towards compatible, reversible and universally shared compositional, technological, formal and structural solutions. The theme is applied to the case study of the Chiesa Diruta of Grottole in Matera, Italy, which survives with some signs in ruins inside the historic center of the Lucanian town.
