The aspects of the varied Victorine Mariological reflection during the 12th century can be addressed considering two fundamental needs of the School of Saint-Victor. Firstly, the devotional and emotional sphere centred on the figure of the Virgin Mary of the Victorine magistri or poets. Secondly, the methodical and theological urgency of the communitarian attempts to understand the Marian Mistery. The sequences of Adam of St. Victor are enriched by the reflection on the person of Mary, which characterizes the liturgy and the school teachings. Thus this sequences become the mirror of a doctrine that is systematized over the first generation of masters and reflected in the vast production of homilies, treatises and comments on the Marian theme written by Hugh, Richard, Gauthier, Achard and Godfrey of St. Victor. The Marian doctrine of the Victorines therefore shows how the liturgy represents the point of arrival of a refined Christian philosophy.

Abstract
Victor. The Marian doctrine of the Victorines therefore shows how the liturgy represents the point of arrival of a refined Christian philosophy.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
