In the present article we aim at analyzing some lexical and, to a lesser extent, morpho-syntactic Latinisms occurring in one of the earliest translations of St. Mark’s Gospel (Zograph Gospel), emphasizing the fact that a certain number of Latin words and set phrases were already present in Greek, and other languages of the late antiquity, e.g. Proto-Slavic "dialects" etc., well before the appearance of Slavic writing. Therefore these Latinisms must have been known to the Slavic translators and might have directly entered the Old Church Slavonic texts not necessarily through the mediation of translation activities.
