Abstract
Each human activity, including tourism, leads to alterations in the environment, generating impacts. Thus, it is urgent to minimize and carefully manage these impacts particularly in protected areas. Often, most severe pollution issues result from unconscious actions, that are not reletated to age, gender, or wealth. The awareness of the consequences of our actions and the ability to modify our behaviour can make the difference. Environmental education plays a strategic role in this concerns, especially for the younger generations. Unlike adults, children and young people are more receptive and they are propense to modificate their behaviour, maybe because they have less prejudices. The Greenopoli environmental education project was conceived and promoted with the specific goal of fostering future generations to drive adults along a path of intergenerational change. The Greenopoli project thus assumed the character of a comprehensive method within the field of environmental pedagogy based on two priciples: sharing and sustainability. The former pertains to the approach employed, while the latter focuses on the content. This paper describes the Greenopolis project and its results as a best practice to promote sustainable behaviours.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
