A complex work’s construction site process has always been an ideal system for developing new technologies and working with new materials and stiles. The building process and site organisa-tion become part of a cognitive procedure in which all knowledge and skills are integrated into a working environment. As a result, the construction site becomes a place where ideas can take shape and technical experimentation become possible, a place where technology and materials are combined with experience and manual skill. Using iconographic and documentary sources from the archive of the company that carried out the works, this contribution aims to know the architectural history of the Palazzo di Giustizia in Rome (1889-1911), a well-known complex seat of the judicial Administration, through its construction site realisation process. Starting with historical research and a detailed analysis of the building’s state of conservation and construction techniques, the knowledge of the construc-tion site allows to appreciate both the originality and peculiarities in techniques, organisation, systems, and materials of one of the most iconic works of early twentieth-century Italian archi-tecture. Here, the construction site has been able to combine traditional procedures typical of the historical construction site with new and innovative techniques, materials, and organizational systems.
