An initial approach to Giovanni Calvino’s Epistolario conveys the perception of a certain cultural atmosphere of the early 16th century, still strongly characterised by the ‘relevance of antiquity’. This Epistolario, in fact, bears the signs of a profound knowledge of classical languages and, therefore, offers the most concrete image of a man of the Early Modern age who still gave great importance to the classics, where eloquence was the interpretation of a model of civilisation.

Abstract
An initial approach to Giovanni Calvino’s Epistolario conveys the perception of a certain cultural atmosphere of the early 16th century, still strongly characterised by the ‘relevance of antiquity’. This Epistolario, in fact, bears the signs of a profound knowledge of classical languages and, therefore, offers the most concrete image of a man of the Early Modern age who still gave great importance to the classics, where eloquence was the interpretation of a model of civilisation.File in questo prodotto:
