The present contribution pursues a twofold aim: on the one hand it attempts to outline the state of the art of Italian-Ukrainian contrastive studies. On the other, it intends to propose, on the basis of materials which are already available, further research perspectives. Although the main part of this article is devoted to aspects of Italian-Ukrainian contrastive linguistics, the paper also provides an overview of Italian-Ukrainian literary relations and discusses the significance of the contrastive approach for interlinguistic translation.
