Refugee and migration movements are issues that concern many countries and cultures around the world. At a time when there are signs of an increasing political shift to the right in European democracies and the topic of migration is at the centre of public debate, it is extremely important to address these issues in German lessons, as they can make an important contribution to promoting intercultural understanding and making migration understandable as a resource. This article will therefore look at a selection of texts and excerpts by Bertolt Brecht, Sudabeh Mohafez and Senthuran Varatharajah in order to show how they can potentially be used in GFL lessons to teach learners language-reflective skills and thus enable them to recognise and overcome monocultural thinking and ethnic, cultural and religious prejudices in society.
