The aim of this article is to examine how the Prague-German author Egon Erwin Kisch (1885-1948) presents, verbalises and conceptualises the complex topic of the war experience as a soldier in 1914/15 in his war diary "Schreib das auf Kisch!" published in 1930 in order to understand his attitude towards the war and the resulting inner upheavals. On the basis of textual evidence, lexical units are focussed on, in particular their metaphorical use.
