Equity Release Mortgage is a product aimed at ensuring that the elderly population has an adequate income. It has been gaining increasing attention due to its potential benefits, especially in facing today’s elderly issues. This work proposes a literature overview, and points out main characteristics, drawbacks and strengths of this innovative financial way could meet retirement needs. This study contributes to the existing literature. Findings encourage pursuing this research direction to improve the understandability and scalability of these innovative financial tools.
