In the second half of the 15th century commentaries on classical texts underwent major changes due to printing process. Even in the first printed commentaries on Lucan’s "Bellum civile" by Omnibonus Leonicenus and Sulpitius Verulanus such innovations are recorded. This paper examines the genesis and typology of the two commentaries: particular attention is paid to their transformation from the manuscript to the printed form.
