This chapter emphasizes the need for an intersectional approach to analyze gender inequalities in the Italian context, exploring how different factors - such as age, gender and territory - interact to shape the condition of young women, particularly in marginalized areas like Southern Italy and internal regions. The analysis highlights three main factors of inequality for young women: access to the labor market, marked by entry barriers and high discouragement rates; deficiencies in welfare services, which limit the autonomy of young mothers; the persistence of gender stereotypes that hinder emancipation. Overcoming these obstacles is essential to support young women in their transition to adulthood, requiring integrated approaches in social policies to transform conditions of disadvantage into opportunities for growth and inclusion.

Abstract
This chapter emphasizes the need for an intersectional approach to analyze gender inequalities in the Italian context, exploring how different factors - such as age, gender and territory - interact to shape the condition of young women, particularly in marginalized areas like Southern Italy and internal regions. The analysis highlights three main factors of inequality for young women: access to the labor market, marked by entry barriers and high discouragement rates; deficiencies in welfare services, which limit the autonomy of young mothers; the persistence of gender stereotypes that hinder emancipation. Overcoming these obstacles is essential to support young women in their transition to adulthood, requiring integrated approaches in social policies to transform conditions of disadvantage into opportunities for growth and inclusion.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
