Disused existing buildings offer significant potential for the regeneration of depopulating villages. Through an appropriate strategy aimed at reuse, many abandoned and decaying buildings can have a useful function if carefully planned: it is essential to think of a reuse of the building stock that can meet new needs. Equally important is the reorganisation of the urban context, with a systemic and integrated view of infrastructures and new services for a better quality of life and work. With this in mind, ‘integrated reuse’ was introduced as the research of a new use in the context of joint actions ranging from individual buildings to urban regeneration and to new service facilities and infrastructures. The case study of the Aterrana village, in the municipality of Montoro (Avellino province), is a test of the proposed method and demonstrates the effectiveness of integrated reuse as a key tool for the valorisation of existing buildings and the built environment, with a view to the sustainable regeneration of small villages in order to reverse their depopulation trend.

Abstract
The case study of the Aterrana village, in the municipality of Montoro (Avellino province), is a test of the proposed method and demonstrates the effectiveness of integrated reuse as a key tool for the valorisation of existing buildings and the built environment, with a view to the sustainable regeneration of small villages in order to reverse their depopulation trend.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
