Abstract

This article is a contribution to the study of the relationship between Seneca and Lucretius. In Seneca’s entire philosophical corpus there are five explicit quotations taken from Lucretius, but passages from De rerum natura are echoed by Seneca many times. However, the analysis shows that, while echoing Lucretius, Seneca often follows different lines of thought compared to the Epicurean poet, and the echoes of Lucretius come to be found in a philosophical discourse with a different perspective.
