This dissertation concerns the work of Palladas of Alexandria (IV century A.D.). This poet’s corpus still lacks a critical edition and a philological al literary commentary. The thesis is divided into two parts: in the first part the author discusses some general issues about Palladas’ poetic production; the second part consists of a word by word commentary on an unitary part of Palladas’ corpus, the gnomic and philosophical epigrams. The first part is divided into six chapters: the first concerns the debated question of Palladas’ chronology; the second, third and fourth chapters are respectively about Palladas’ poetics, philosophy and religion; the fifth chapter contains a descriptive analysis of the metrics and prosody of Palladas’ gnomic and philosophical epigrams; the sixth chapter briefly introduces the manuscript tradition of the corpus. In the second part, the commentary, every epigram is introduced, translated into Italian and discussed word by word. The Greek text and apparatus are based on L. A. Guichard’ edition (forthcoming).
