The work has redefined the conceptual model of the Employee engagement, identifying the practical dimensions that make it applicable within the public administration. The research objective was to identify factors that help to encourage and emphasize the engagement of employees working at the INPS direction of Salerno. It was carried out through a survey of qualitative type of semi-structured interviews and addressed to the directors and officers of the Institute, who have formulated their own assessment regarding the relevance, impact and diffusion of engagement of employees' environment work. The analysis showed a work environment in which people display an attachment to the Institute (sense of belonging, interpersonal relationships, social roles, values) and some commitment to tackling the daily operations (contribution to corporate objectives, decisionmaking autonomy ), all of which also contribute to increase their level of engagement. A limitation of the study is the focus of the research, which included only the managers and officers of the Institute, excluding other categories of staff. In addition, the investigation concentrated on a single provincial office, leaving the possibility of including other facilities located throughout the region. The existing literature on the subject of the Employee engagement has traditionally studied the implications in other fields. The paper considers the engagement of employees as a factor in special interactive and complex contexts such as public administration, in this case the INPS. [edited by Author]
