The current global situation is marked by escalating geopolitical tensions and an increasing number of armed conflicts, with Ukraine, Sudan, Israel, and Gaza representing only a few recent examples. These developments underscore the need for renewed and critical reflection on war-related discourses. This volume brings together literary, linguistic, and didactic perspectives to examine war discourses past and present. Contributions explore how the World Wars and the Polish–Bolshevik War have been represented across different literary periods and genres; how displacement, experiences of violence, and processes of memory work are articulated; what lexical and semantic shifts emerge in connection with war and conflict; and how foreign-language pedagogy—particularly in the field of German as a foreign language—can engage with and critically address such discourses.

Abstract
The current global situation is marked by escalating geopolitical tensions and an increasing number of armed conflicts, with Ukraine, Sudan, Israel, and Gaza representing only a few recent examples. These developments underscore the need for renewed and critical reflection on war-related discourses. This volume brings together literary, linguistic, and didactic perspectives to examine war discourses past and present. Contributions explore how the World Wars and the Polish–Bolshevik War have been represented across different literary periods and genres; how displacement, experiences of violence, and processes of memory work are articulated; what lexical and semantic shifts emerge in connection with war and conflict; and how foreign-language pedagogy—particularly in the field of German as a foreign language—can engage with and critically address such discourses.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
