The study investigates the role of environmental education in addressing the environmental and social impacts of fast fashion and textile waste. A quasi-experimental pre-post intervention was conducted in a lower secondary school involving approximately 240 students. The results show a significant increase in knowledge and awareness among students exposed to the educational intervention, together with emerging attitudinal changes towards more responsible consumption and reuse practices. The findings highlight the importance of education as a form of “soft infrastructure” capable of supporting textile urban mining and the transition towards a circular economy by reconnecting digital purchasing behaviours with their environmental consequences.

Abstract
The study investigates the role of environmental education in addressing the environmental and social impacts of fast fashion and textile waste. A quasi-experimental pre-post intervention was conducted in a lower secondary school involving approximately 240 students. The results show a significant increase in knowledge and awareness among students exposed to the educational intervention, together with emerging attitudinal changes towards more responsible consumption and reuse practices. The findings highlight the importance of education as a form of “soft infrastructure” capable of supporting textile urban mining and the transition towards a circular economy by reconnecting digital purchasing behaviours with their environmental consequences.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
