The Power of Humanity: Influencing Society by Cultivating Oneself

In the current days, a persistent misunderstanding occurs, when it comes to decision-making at social levels. We need to remind ourselves that generalization is insufficient as the only resource for decision and sense-making. In any form it appears it needs context to make sense—become useful. In current strivings in research domains, generalization is in the balance between being an illustration and a caricature of humankind. A peril that emerges already in our daily life perception. Even though there are many positionings toward human existence, between the human a social or an individualistic being, every perspective in layers of experiencing materialized reality starts in our selves (Valsiner, 2009). The very first layer between the experience of “me and others,” “inside and outside,” and “one community to another” emerges from what we feel/experience as ourselves. In the following chapter, the focus lies therefore in elaborating how our perception in a global context, societal level, is influenced by MyCu-cultivation (Campill, 2022) and how it could challenge today’s way of political decision-making. For a more individual aware level of awareness in society, that integrates consequently into our mainly generalized decision-making organism, that can enhance our current action potential. By using the Dialogical Self Theory (Hermans, 1999) as an elaboration baseline for the externalized social dialogues, we are exploring what we are cultivating and so how the “temporary” picture of nations emerges. “What do I-need-in-future (preserving potential action diversity for -tomorrow-) and how could that influence my decisions right now in social spheres.”
