Introduction to the volume, which stems from the academic conference of the same name, held at the University of Salerno on 4 and 5 July 2022. The conference was one of the very first initiatives in Italy in the run-up to the 25th World Congress of Philosophy, aptly titled ‘Philosophy across Boundaries’ (Rome, 1–8 August 2024). The proceedings featured contributions from distinguished speakers and the presence of national and international institutional representatives, in a fruitful interplay of roles, expertise and knowledge, which highlighted the various possible interpretations and directions of the theme of ‘crossing’ boundaries.
