Supervisory control theory is now well developed, but its use in industrial applications can be limited by a set of problems arising from implementation of supervisors on common control machines. The asynchronous nature of supervisors and the fact that they are non-deterministic models make their implementation on synchronous devices like Programmable Logic Controllers or Personal Computers not a simple task. This paper discusses the main problems occurring in such implementation. A method is proposed to translate a PN supervisor in one of the IEC 61131-3 standard languages, by preserving the closed loop behavior as expected from the theory.

Abstract
Supervisory control theory is now well developed, but its use in industrial applications can be limited by a set of problems arising from implementation of supervisors on common control machines. The asynchronous nature of supervisors and the fact that they are non-deterministic models make their implementation on synchronous devices like Programmable Logic Controllers or Personal Computers not a simple task. This paper discusses the main problems occurring in such implementation. A method is proposed to translate a PN supervisor in one of the IEC 61131-3 standard languages, by preserving the closed loop behavior as expected from the theory.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
