Today Balanced Scorecard is more and more implemented in healthcare organizations worldwide. It is a tool that translates an organization’s mission and strategy into a comprehensive set of performance measures that provides the framework for a strategic measurement and management system. Balanced Scorecard draws out the key factors necessary for the organization’s strategy to be successful and then measures how the organization is performing these key factors. This paper focuses on strategy map as visual representation of an organization’s strategy and the processes and systems necessary to implement that strategy. In a strategy map each key factor identified for strategy’s success becomes a part of cause and effect chain, so that drives or otherwise influences are clear. Strategy maps support decision making and facilitate implementation because strategy is represented in a concise, holistic, process-oriented manner. This paper (i) discusses the impact of effect of using balance scorecard in healthcare organizations, (ii) describes its architecture and (iii) and provides with an understanding of what strategy map is, how it works, and how it can be created.
