This paper focuses on adolescent socialization and the processes of transmission and revision of ethics and values implied in the representations and practices concerning legality. In particular, two aspects are investigated: the normative socialization, intended as form of transmission and revision of the normative elements turning into social ties, and the representations of the norms codified in the legal system as well as in the control systems related to the norms themselves. By adopting an ecological approach, a survey aiming at comparing the educational contexts in the southern (Locri, Messina, Palermo and Siderno) and in the northern (Modena) Regions of Italy has been conducted. The multivariate study of the data allowed us to sketch a map of the legal cultures operating in the considered areas.
