A simple strategy is outlined for preparation of the antinociceptive 1-beta-(p-methoxycinnamoyl)polygodial, isolated from barks of Drymis winteri, a plant (Winteraceae) used in folkmedicine, in many countries of South America. The synthesized compound showed vanilloid activity.
