The paper explores the importance of the idea of philia in the whole corpus Plutarcheum. First the author gives a brief survey of the works, lost writings and fragments in which Plutarch deals with the theme. Then she draws attention on some passages from Moralia and VItae particularly significant to understand the meaning of philia in Plutarch's ethical-political thought, connected with the historical and cultural context.
