The hymn to Hades (Soph. OC 1556-1578) is here examined and strongly connected with the rest of the play. It is considered as a key scene for analyzing the relationship between Oedipus and the Chorus. Textual, metrical and interpretative problems of vv. 1559-1562 are discussed, and a translation is proposed of the whole passage.
