The analysis of a quarrel between the town of Pellezzano (Salerno) and the swiss factory Aselmeyer Pfister & C., occurred at the end of nineteenth century (they take possessions of the public land and they build illigally on the Irno’s river banks) offers to contemporary technical planners an emblematic example of the cartography’s pacifier and moralizing role and an extra opportunity to reflect. The cartographic picture, infact, if made with care and objectivity, and it solves difficult legal issues in favor of the territory and its population.
