An investigation of exts. from the starfish P. miniata led to the isolation of 4 asterosaponins. Two were new compds. designated as patirioside A (I) and patirioside B. They are hexaglycosides with 2 branches. The spectral data of the 2 remaining asterosaponins agree with those of pectinioside G, a hexaglycoside recently described from Asterina pectinifera, and with those of acanthaglycoside C, a pentaglycoside 1st isolated from Acanthaster planci.
