The mutagenicity of halothane, enflurane and methoxyflurane has been tested in an in vtro assay system employing three S.typhimurium histidine dependent strain TA98, TA100 and TA1535. The halogenated volatile anaesthetics have been incubated , in diferent concentrantions with bacteria in the presence or absence of liver homogenate prepared from rats pretreated with two different enzyme inducing agents: the classical Aroclor 1254 anf the Isoniazid (INH). A pretretment with INH compared to that with Aroclor1254 has shown an increase in the mutagenic potency of a known mutagenic substance but has not shown any mutagenic effect of the volatile anaesthetics tested.

Abstract
The mutagenicity of halothane, enflurane and methoxyflurane has been tested in an in vtro assay system employing three S.typhimurium histidine dependent strain TA98, TA100 and TA1535. The halogenated volatile anaesthetics have been incubated , in diferent concentrantions with bacteria in the presence or absence of liver homogenate prepared from rats pretreated with two different enzyme inducing agents: the classical Aroclor 1254 anf the Isoniazid (INH). A pretretment with INH compared to that with Aroclor1254 has shown an increase in the mutagenic potency of a known mutagenic substance but has not shown any mutagenic effect of the volatile anaesthetics tested.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
