Abstract

Chiral sulfoxides are accessible with very satisfactory enantiomeric excesses through a modified Sharpless procedure, based on the employment of furylhydroperoxides. Racemic hydroperoxides are found to undergo a kinetic resolution in the course of the asymmetric oxidation.
