This paper is concerned with the Dirichlet problem in an unbounded domain \Omega of R^n, n>=2, for linear second order elliptic partial differential equations with leading coefficients a_ij of class L^infinity(\Omega) \cap W^1,s_loc(\bar\Omega)+C(\bar\Omega), where s>2 if n=2 and s=n if n>2. Some existence and uniqueness theorems are proved.
