For the many-anyon system in external field, we solve the quantum eigenvalue problem with particular topological constraints derived from semiclassical considerations. Our results agree with the numerical spectra recently obtained for the three- and four-anyon systems. The relevance of our approximation to the general solution of the anyon-gas model is pointed out and discussed.
