Pour une ‘Italian theory’ vivante : voilà comment on pourrait résumer le parcours philosophique de Roberto Esposito, dont la carte conceptuelle dessine un itinéraire complètement inexploré qui va de l’immanence du conflit aux thèses bio-politiques et thanato-immunitaires, pour aborder finalement le paradigme de la troisième personne. Ici s’entrouvre, en effet, une instance théorico-politique qui culmine en une nouvelle vision du monde : en-deçà du piège métaphysique de la « personne » – qui vise à séparer l’être vivant de lui-même – Esposito désigne dans le « vivant impersonnel » le lieu à partir duquel notre existence « s’ouvre à ce qu’elle n’a encore jamais été ». Les questions cruciales de notre temps – liées aux concepts de souveraineté et de fin du politique, qu’Esposito déconstruit en recourant aux catégories d’impolitique et de biopolitique – sont abordées sans masques ni solutions béates. Une « pensée vivante » capable, en somme, selon l’exemple géo-philosophique bien italien de Machiavel, Bruno, Vico ou Gramsci, de faire sauter le primat transcendantal du langage et de rétablir la relation constitutive de la politique avec l’histoire et la vie. For a living Italian theory: this is how we could express Roberto Esposito’s philosophical work. His works lead us along a conceptual itinerary that has never been explored before, starting from the immanence of conflict, to theories concerning bio-politics and immune death and ending with works concerning the third person paradigm. Here he opens a theoretical discussion on politics that culminates in a new vision of the world. Beyond the pitfalls of the metaphysical concept of the ‘person’, which aims at separating the living being from himself, Esposito sees in the ‘impersonal living’ a place where our existence ‘ opens to that which has never yet been’. Esposito deconstructs the crucial questions of our times, which are connected to concepts of dominance and political goals, as he makes reference to non-politics and bio-politics. He faces these without masks and quieting solutions. All said, ‘living thought’ is able (through the geo-philosophical thought brought forward through history by Machiavelli, Bruno, Vico and Gramsci) to threaten the transcendental primacy of language and restore the original relationship between politics, history and life.
