The food industry is one of the most important sectors of national industry. The big food industry is present in part also in southern Italy, but this not always has resulted in the formation of a industrial supply chain. In those regions the agro-industrial sector is therefore now made a greater extent of small firms in various branches of food industry. In recent years, in order to reinforce the small business structures were included in the Rural Development Plans some projects to support activities of partnership between firms and local institutions. The case of Basilicata is one example. The region hosts several large Italian food companies and foreign, but more extensively a fabric of small food businesses with impact on employment in part analogous to those of larger companies. The development of the food industry is affected, however, from some constraints related to the absence of industrial suppliers and to the general difficulty to construct of a supply chain capable to increase the local agricultural production value. At the same time small firms continue to discount a problem of associative character and promotion of their products with the evident limits on national and international markets.

Abstract
At the same time small firms continue to discount a problem of associative character and promotion of their products with the evident limits on national and international markets.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
