This paper deals with the first results of an extensive experimental analysis on the mechanical properties and durability of Recycled PolyEthylene Terephthalate Fiber Reinforced Concrete (RPETFRC). Two types of filament (PET/a and PET/c), characterized by different mechanical properties and geometric profiles (straight and cramped), are taken in consideration. Cubic and prismatic specimens were casted with either C30/37 plain concrete (UNRC) or C30/37 concrete reinforced with about 1% by volume of RPET fibers. Compression tests and four-point bending tests were carried out, in order to evaluate the compressive strength, first crack strength and ductility indexes of the samples. The results highlight reasonable improvements in the mechanical properties of the fiber reinforced concrete in comparison with unreinforced one, with particular reference to the post-peak constitutive behavior.
