This article describes the autograph manuscript of Barlaán y Josafat, by Lope de Vega, which is now preserved at the Bodmer Library (Geneva, Switzerland) and has been considered lost since the 1930s. The study presents a philological description of the manuscript; it focuses also on different loci which are absent in the edition of the play by José F. Montesinos (1935), and that could help to better understand the process of composition of the play by the playwright. Thanks to the analysis of this extraordinary text, it is also possible to study the theatre company that represented this play in the seventeenth century, specifying some details that are already known and adding new ones.
