The purpose of these notes is reading the years ranging from 1762 to 1775 in historical and historiographical terms, from a brief observation of the most recent history of the Congregation of the Holy Redeemer. These are the years in which the bishop Alfonso Maria dé Liguori was engaged for a long time in overcoming , in his own way, the fracture occurred in the European religious unit following that process of modernizing the secular society, which was advocated by the philosophes of the eighteenth century. The topic is dealt mainly in reference to the historical work of the Redemptorist Father Karl Dilgskron devoted to the life and to the work of Bishop Alfonso Maria de Liguori, published in 1887 on the occasion of one hundred years from the death of the Saint Bishop, and to the cultural, ideal, moral and religious suggestions, that have origins in the Bishop of Regensburg Ignatius von Senestrey, among the guarantors of the book of Dilgskron, with particular reference to those forms of anticurialism of the eighteenth century that he saw recurring in his time.
