Author’s purpose is to outline the thought of the Italian existentialist philosopher Luigi Pareyson (1918-1991), with attention to the moral and theoretical reasons that, in the Forties of the 20th century, founded his opposition against the fascist government in Italy. After the recapitulation of the historical acts of Pareyson’s opposition and resistance against Fascism, as member of the “Partito d’Azione” and as one of the leaders of “Giustizia e Libertà”, the essay considers Pareyson’s theory of the relationship existence-person and person-society. At last the author outlines the permanency of this theory in the late Pareyson, particularly in his “ontology of liberty”.
