This articles aims at presenting main methodologies and outcomes of the research activities developed by the energy and propulsion laboratory at University of Salerno (Italy) in the fuel cell field, particularly focusing on Solid Oxide fuel Cells (SOFC). After a preliminary overview on the funding schemes, thanks to which all the achievements and research outcomes presented were possible, a brief description of the methodologies selected to perform reliable and effective model-based tasks is given. Finally, some of the model-based tasks set-up and deployed for SOFC diagnosis purposes are recalled and discussed, before concluding the paper highlighting the perspectives on future work and research.
