Notes on my visual work that tells the story of ethnographic research on Carnival in Montemarano, a small town in the province of Avellino in Southern Italy. The ritual is famous for its carnival dance called “Montemaranese”. The “Montemaranese” is a dance of carnival in which Pulcinella, the famous mask of Campania, conducts with a stick the other dancers. The musical instruments used are accordions and clarinets. In the past it was used the shawm. Researchers were ethnographers and students of the University of Salerno.
