Abstract

Today kill himself voluntarily (suicide) is incomprehensible to the majority of the people: to study the death and in particular of the suicide means to break taboos very strong. The orientation (of justification or condemnation) who takes over the centuries against suicide is closely related to cultural aspects of societies. In Western societies, these have been influenced by ethical principles. Hence the introduction of an ethics of responsibility that is not based on individual morality, ethics or collective (secular or religious), but that is the world view of their secular-liberal state. The ethics of responsibility, for its status therefore, arises far both objectivism and subjectivism, rather it is looking for values that help the inter- subjective and intercultural dialogue between different positions. So sociology, and in particular, the relational sociology can assume a leading role in re-defining the paradigms in the study of suicide: the micro and macro aspects woven into a network of relationships must be taken into due consideration, it is unthinkable to a sociological theory independent of the context within which actions take place.
