This paper aims to propose an interdisciplinary teaching unit comprising mathematics and literature for the second year of a Math high school (an Italian secondary school with a particular focus on mathematics) on the theme "Greek myths on the origin of numbers". By means of a guided analysis of ancient Greek literary texts dealing with myths on the origin of numbers (those of Theuth, Palamedes and Prometheus), students will identify the main functions that the ancient Greeks attributed to numbers and to mathematics, and then form a personal opinion on this topic.

Abstract
This paper aims to propose an interdisciplinary teaching unit comprising mathematics and literature for the second year of a Math high school (an Italian secondary school with a particular focus on mathematics) on the theme "Greek myths on the origin of numbers". By means of a guided analysis of ancient Greek literary texts dealing with myths on the origin of numbers (those of Theuth, Palamedes and Prometheus), students will identify the main functions that the ancient Greeks attributed to numbers and to mathematics, and then form a personal opinion on this topic.File in questo prodotto:
