Styrene-butadiene multi-block copolymers (sPS-B) comprising cryst. segments of syndiotactic polystyrene (sPS) have been synthesized using homogenous catalysts based on monocyclopentadienyl titanium compds. activated with MAO. AFM images of spin coated films from chloroform solns. of sPS-Bs showed well defined morphologies (spheres, lamellae, fibers) at variance of the monomer block lengths and copolymer compn. Samples of sPS-B were successfully tested as active compatibilizer of blends of sPS with PB. Remarkable mech. properties were found when blends were in situ synthesized using a multistep polymn. process producing nano and micro particles of sPS homogeneously dispersed in a PB and compatibilized with 1-2% wt./wt. of sPS-B.

Abstract
Styrene-butadiene multi-block copolymers (sPS-B) comprising cryst. segments of syndiotactic polystyrene (sPS) have been synthesized using homogenous catalysts based on monocyclopentadienyl titanium compds. activated with MAO. AFM images of spin coated films from chloroform solns. of sPS-Bs showed well defined morphologies (spheres, lamellae, fibers) at variance of the monomer block lengths and copolymer compn. Samples of sPS-B were successfully tested as active compatibilizer of blends of sPS with PB. Remarkable mech. properties were found when blends were in situ synthesized using a multistep polymn. process producing nano and micro particles of sPS homogeneously dispersed in a PB and compatibilized with 1-2% wt./wt. of sPS-B.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
