The brutal eruption of Vesuvius in 1631, as we know, has distorted and even upset the settlements of the Vesuvian area for a considerable extension. These geographic areas affected by the volcanic event, being on the junction of two important road links, the coastal one relating to the Naples-Stabia and Salerno axis, marked by the commercial and maritime exchange, and the one linking the houses of the Sarno valley, which geographical conditions were favorable to the manufacturing and proto-industrial allocations, they suffered a deep degeneration in the aftermath of 1631. There are many historical memories and archival documents, both public and private, which contain information on the historical, economic and social aspects related to these areas affected by the Vesuvian eruption, of which an initial examination is presented here.

Abstract
The brutal eruption of Vesuvius in 1631, as we know, has distorted and even upset the settlements of the Vesuvian area for a considerable extension. These geographic areas affected by the volcanic event, being on the junction of two important road links, the coastal one relating to the Naples-Stabia and Salerno axis, marked by the commercial and maritime exchange, and the one linking the houses of the Sarno valley, which geographical conditions were favorable to the manufacturing and proto-industrial allocations, they suffered a deep degeneration in the aftermath of 1631. There are many historical memories and archival documents, both public and private, which contain information on the historical, economic and social aspects related to these areas affected by the Vesuvian eruption, of which an initial examination is presented here.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
