Gli opuscoli sulla politeia della Scuola di Aristotele. Appunti e riflessioni

The Aristotelian Politeiai are the historiographical exposition of a content often – but not always – in relation to politics. Even if the work hasn’t been particularly appreciated in terms of historiographical rigour, nevertheless we shouldn’t cast doubt on its nature of historiographical work: the use of precise methodological arguments – the ones which the historian uses to illustrate his approach and motivate his choices – and the introduction of the category of time (for the first time in the literary genre) show that the author is conscious of being working on a historiographical work. It is a form of local history. It is not appropriate to distinguish the most technically institutional content of the Athenaion Politeia from that of the other Politeiai (as if the Ath. Pol. was ‘atypical’) nor to approach the study of these works in a perspective of political theory: in Aristotle traces of the ‘traditional’ approach to these monographs still remain.
