Starting from the consideration of the importance of metric and polymetry in the comedia, this article proposes a reflection on sonnets in two Lope de Vega’s plays: El galán escarmentado and Los Comendadores de Córdoba, which contain eight sonnets each. In particular, I will mainly focus on five sonnets recited by the graciosos after the ones pronounced by the galanes (“sonetos en díptico” and “sonetos en tríptico”). Special attention will be paid to the uses of the sonetos graciosos in relation to the structure and the themes of the play; furthermore, I offer a reflection on the possibility of undertaking the study of a ‘vertical’ analysis of these groups of sonnets in the texts (considering the sonnets recited by the same character), in order to better understand their importance in the comedia.

Tomando en consideración la importancia de la métrica y de la polimetría en la comedia, este artículo propone una reflexión sobre los sonetos en dos piezas de Lope de Vega, El galán escarmentado y Los Comendadores de Córdoba. Más específicamente, el trabajo se centra ini-cialmente en los sonetos recitados por los graciosos en respuesta a los que declaman sus res-pectivos galanes (“sonetos en díptico” y “sonetos en tríptico”). Especial atención es prestada a los usos de los sonetos graciosiles en relación con la estructura y los temas de las comedias; además, se propondrá un análisis ‘vertical’ de estos grupos de sonetos (esto es, considerando los que en la pieza recita un mismo personaje) para tratar de entender mejor su importancia en el entramado de la comedia.
