Starting from the consideration of the importance of metric and polymetry in the comedia, this article proposes a reflection on sonnets in two Lope de Vega’s plays: El galán escarmentado and Los Comendadores de Córdoba, which contain eight sonnets each. In particular, I will mainly focus on five sonnets recited by the graciosos after the ones pronounced by the galanes (“sonetos en díptico” and “sonetos en tríptico”). Special attention will be paid to the uses of the sonetos graciosos in relation to the structure and the themes of the play; furthermore, I offer a reflection on the possibility of undertaking the study of a ‘vertical’ analysis of these groups of sonnets in the texts (considering the sonnets recited by the same character), in order to better understand their importance in the comedia.

Abstract
Starting from the consideration of the importance of metric and polymetry in the comedia, this article proposes a reflection on sonnets in two Lope de Vega’s plays: El galán escarmentado and Los Comendadores de Córdoba, which contain eight sonnets each. In particular, I will mainly focus on five sonnets recited by the graciosos after the ones pronounced by the galanes (“sonetos en díptico” and “sonetos en tríptico”). Special attention will be paid to the uses of the sonetos graciosos in relation to the structure and the themes of the play; furthermore, I offer a reflection on the possibility of undertaking the study of a ‘vertical’ analysis of these groups of sonnets in the texts (considering the sonnets recited by the same character), in order to better understand their importance in the comedia.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
