BETWEEN EVOLUTION AND CRITICALITY, THE TRANSFORMATIONS OF SALERNO OVER TIME. A GEOCARTOGRAPHIC JOURNEY THROUGH THE CENTURIES The city of Salerno has become the object of a renewed tourist interest, thanks to the redevelopment of its historic center, the result of an uninterrupted work of construction from the Roman age until the 18th century and, more recently, of a coordinated process of gentrification. In this paper we let’s try to retrace the main steps of the history of the city, highlighting its more meaning changes with the help of historical cartography.

UN PERCORSO GEOCARTOGRAFICO ATTRAVERSO I SECOLI La città di Salerno è diventata oggetto di un rinnovato interesse turistico, grazie alla riqualificazione del suo centro storico, risultato di interventi ininterrotti di edificazione dall’età romana sino al ‘700 e, più di recente, di un coordinato processo di gentrification. In questo articolo proviamo a ripercorrere le fasi principali della storia della città, evidenziandone le trasformazioni più significative con l’aiuto della cartografia storica.
