In this paper, an empirical relation to compute an overstrength factor for Theory of Plastic Mechanism Control (TPMC) has been presented. This regression, accounting for random material variability, has been obtained as function of number of storeys, number of bays, coefficient of variation and the probability of failure of TPMC, provided by 25 Moment Resisting Frames (MRFs).

Abstract

In this paper, an empirical relation to compute an overstrength factor for Theory of Plastic Mechanism Control (TPMC) has been presented.
